Pacific Seafood Processors Association

Pacific Seafood Processors Association

One of the best parts of our job here at Alaska Air Forwarding, is that we get to help people. In fact, all of our day-to-day functions are centered around serving other industries and making sure people have what they need to perform their jobs. Not only is this incredibly rewarding, but it also serves as constant motivation for us as a company. We constantly seek to improve upon how we do things and look for ways that we can expand our network of service and be an even greater resource to our public.

One of the ways we have expanded our service is to highlight other businesses that are either in Alaska or that support Alaska’s industries. Our Alaska Shipping Directory, under the resources tab on our website, is one of the ways we do this. One such resource is the PSPA, or Pacific Seafood Processors Association.

The PSPA is a non-profit professional association that supports the seafood industry. It is comprised of a number of corporate members who are major seafood processing companies with operations in both Alaska and here in Washington state. A quick look at their “about page” will provide an explanation of their primary function:

“Our member companies purchase, process, and market hundreds of millions of pounds of salmon, pollock, crab, cod, halibut, and other species of Alaska seafood. They have made large capital investments in the communities where they operate. They provide thousands of direct and indirect jobs and markets to thousands of commercial fishermen, and contribute millions of dollars in tax revenues that provide important services and support the quality of life in Alaska and Washington.”

In addition, the PSPA also provides the following resources:

News Updates: The PSPA provides a current page with the latest updates of the Alaska fishing industry. These updates occur regularly and offer a wealth of current information about the seasonal supply of fish as well as state and national political policies that impact the industry.

Calendar: The PSPA website's home page has a calendar at the bottom that provides dates and other information about upcoming events within the industry.

As you can see, the PSPA doesn’t just “support” Alaska’s fishing industry, but it is the primary resource that connects all of the industry’s moving parts. It keeps the industry updated on all of the latest news and politics that impacts the industry and it also functions as the primary investor and distributor for the fishing industry; allowing consumers throughout all of North America to enjoy fresh seafood.
